Delaware Bay Fishing Report For The Reel Life III

Captain Joe's 2008 Season Delaware Bay Fishing Report.

May 23, 2008

I got to start out the 2008 season with a "big thanks" to the Bay Point Marina Crew in Cedarville, NJ for hosting their Annual Spring Stripe Bass Tournament. It was a great time. Alot of hard work and respect for sportfishing goes into making the Bay Point Tourmaments a great time for all.

Date: May 18-19, 2008, The location: Bay Point, Cedarville, NJ

  • Day One of Tour, saw alot of reel nice stripers caught. Note: The weather was not that bad.
  • Then on Day Two, what a wonderful treat for my crew...Team Reel Life landed three nice Stripers,
one at 36 pounds, another at 42 pounds, and swee..eet 47 pounder and I mean, Wow!

Our day's catch turned out to be the Spring Tournament's winning Stripers.

Thank you again Bay Point and all the great fish people we went up against.

Striper fishing seemed to fall off this season. Still. we're finding lots of undersized stripers and they're fun sport, too.

October 11, 2006

Finding plenty of Stripers in the Delaware Bay, all throwbacks, although the biggest was 24 inches...last outing.

Between charter bookings, we'll be warming up for our tournament schedule. You'll find us at Utsch's in Cape May, NJ - Oct. 26, 27. Slaughter Beach, DE - Oct 28. Bay Point, NJ - November 11 and 12.

Weakfish have picked up quite a bit, you can find them around Ben Davis Point, Six Buoy and in front of Fortescue. Lots of croakers and snapping blues for the party boat fishers.

Flounder has slacked of but if you get into deeper water like near the Wreak and Flounder Alley, you can still get them.

July 11, 2006

After the recent storm, flounder fishing as well as croaker has picked up in the Delaware Bay.

There has been very good fishing between the Miah Maul and Fourteen Foot. Nice 3, 4 and 5 pound flounder have been caught. Weakfish is still slow, very few caught.

Atlantic Ocean - Inshore, been fishing 20 miles outside of Cape May at the Old Grounds. Flounder is great, blues at top and Sea Bass have been tremendous.

June 4, 2006

Striper fishing in the Delaware Bay fell last week. We had one good trip, caught seven, and missed five. The next day we didn't catch any. Then four days after, we had one fish and two lost… a broken line and a bird's nest. Black Drum fishing is still pretty good in the Delaware Bay.

This week we are looking forward to competing in 26 th Annual South Jersey Shark Tournament, some offshore fishing plus Inshore flounder, weakfish and blue fish as well. We're on the way to Cape May, NJ for the summer. See you there.

Took Eddie's group of friends to 34 buoy, chunking with bunker for bait. Turned out a good day for striper fishing, netting three keepers and missing one. Joe caught a 44", 31 lb. striped bass. Go to photo gallery, image 12.

April 24, 2006
